Beaver extends win streak to 7
Lions get by Fayette in OT
Fayette, PA---- Penn State Beaver improved to 7-0 in the PSUAC Thursday night by defeating PSU Fayette by a score of 92-90 in overtime. The first minutes were back and forth as both teams traded small leads until Fayette began to pull away, taking a 12 point lead around the 6 minute mark of the first half and led by 6 at the break, 45-39. Beaver took the lead in the second half by three but Fayette answered to lead by as much as 8 at the 12:30 mark. Beaver was able to tie it up with 6 minutes to play and even took a two point lead but Fayette would regain the lead and take a 3 point lead with just seconds remaining. Beaver needed a three to tie and got just that from Lamont Wright (Penn Hills, Penn Hills) who knocked down a three from way beyond the arc as time expired to send the contest into overtime. Beaver would again fall behind until Nick Miller (Beaver Falls, Beaver Falls) knocked down a three to take a one-point lead. Fayette would tie the game at 90 and Rob Agurs (Pittsburgh, Penn Hills) would hit two free throws with 2 seconds left to seal the victory for Beaver.
Agurs was once again impressive for Beaver, scoring a season-high 30 points to go along with 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Miller finished with 24 points and 8 rebounds and Wright added 19 points and 5 rebounds. Pat Horton (Farrell, Farrell) scored 10 points to give Beaver four scorers in double figures.
Beaver has now won seven straight games and is 9-2 overall and 7-0 in conference play. The Lions will play once more in 2012, as they host Thiel College on Dec 31st at 3pm.
