Beaver wins OT thriller

Monaca, PA--- Beaver defeated PSU Schuylkill on Friday night to improve to 4-0 in conference play by a score of 106-100 in overtime. The game was back and forth from the opening tip and Beaver was able to outlast a great effort from the visitors in the victory. Schuylkill started the game with an 8-0 run and led 24-8 until Beaver got things going and took the lead back late in the first half. Schuylkill regained the lead and led at the half 46-43. Beaver came out strong in the second half, going on a 19-1 run to take a 62-47 lead. Schuylkill would answer to eventually tie the game at 79 and then take a 1 point lead, 91-90, with 1:39 left. Beaver would go up 3 and with 6 seconds left, a 3-pointer from Schuylkill's Nate Yost would send the game into OT. Beaver won the overtime period 10-4 to earn a hard fought victory.
Beaver was led offensively by Rob Agurs (Pittsburgh, Penn Hills) who scored 28 points and also had 5 rebounds. Lamont Wright (Penn Hills, Penn Hills) added 20 points and 8 rebounds and added some clutch free throws down the stretch. Nick Miller (Beaver Falls, Beaver Falls) had 16 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists while Pat Horton (Farrell, Farrell) added 13 points and Mike Martin (Dublin OH, Dublin Jerome) scored 12. Julian Taylor (Rochester, Rochester) added 9 points for Beaver in the win.
Beaver will now play again on Saturday as they host Penn College at 3pm at the Beaver Fieldhouse and will look for their 5th straight win.
