Lions drop season opener in double OT thriller

Pittsburgh, PA - The Penn State Beaver men's basketball team dropped its first game of the season in a double overtime loss to Waynesburg University, 94-93.
Despite four Beaver players scoring double figures and a strong overall 50% shooting from the field, Waynesburg ended it with a steal and a pair of free throws late in the second overtime to clinch the victory.
Senior David McGarry led all scorers with 23 points and 9 rebounds. Junior Tony Houghton added 16 points, and sophomore Rich Gaston contributed 13 points and 8 boards.
The team takes on Thiel College tomorrow in day two of the La Roche Crons Classic at 2 p.m.
