Monaca, PA - Five minutes before tip-off at last night's men's basketball game, two Penn State Beaver players were honored on Senior Night, then went on to lift Beaver to a huge win, 87-76, over Penn State DuBois.
In the first half, Beaver held a 15-point lead but with about four minutes to go, DuBois cut that lead, and Beaver went into the half with a small 42-35 advantage. In the second, the teams rallied back and forth, but Beaver took the game.
Seniors David McGarry (Poland Seminary High School/Poland, OH) and Billy Stoughton (Slippery Rock High School/Slippery Rock, PA) led the team in scoring. McGarry posted a season high of 29 points and 14 rebounds, while Stoughton added 15 points. Freshman Chris Weathers (New Brighton High School/New Brighton, PA) chipped in 10.
For the game, Beaver turned the ball over seven times, and forced DuBois into 19 turnovers. The team also shot a solid 50.7% from the field and 46.7% from behind the arc.
Beaver returns to action on Tuesday, Feb. 22 when they enter the PSUAC playoffs as the No. 1 seeded team.
