Beaver defeats Penn College, is first in PSUAC

Monaca, PA - The Penn State Beaver men's basketball team defeated Penn College, 71-49, in a crucial win on Sunday. The Lions' victory gave them first place in the PSUAC at 14-1 as well as the No. 1 seed in the PSUAC playoffs.
Although Beaver lost a 10-point lead to close the first half at 34-34, the Lions were a powerhouse in the second half. Within the first ten minutes, the Lions went on a run to gain a 10-point advantage and gained more than a 20-point lead for the win.
Senior David McGarry (Poland Seminary High School/Poland, OH) was the high scorer and rebounder for Beaver, scoring 21 points and grabbing a season high of 16 boards. Beaver junior Julian Taylor (Rochester High School/Rochester, PA) and sophomore Nick Miller (Beaver Falls High School/Beaver Falls, PA) each added 11 points.
The Lions are 14-1 in the PSUAC and 14-10 overall. On Wednesday, Feb. 16, Beaver will host Penn State DuBois at 8:00 p.m.
Wednesday will be Senior Night and "Think Pink" Night. Seniors from the men's and women's basketball teams will receive honors prior to the start of the game in recognition of their hard work and dedication to Beaver basketball.
In addition, the women's basketball team will host the "Think Pink" event at both the men's and women's games to raise awareness and prevention of breast cancer. Donations will be collected for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, and all fans are encouraged to wear pink to support the event.
