Beaver men finish third in USCAA DII National Tournament

Uniontown, PA - The Penn State Beaver men's basketball team finished its season with a win over New Hampshire Technical Institute (NHTI), 88-71, in the third place game at the USCAA National Tournament.
NHTI led most of the way in the first half. Beaver climbed within 1 point three times only to have NHTI push the lead to 6 points. In the final minutes of the first half, Beaver came within 3 before senior Billy Stoughton (Slippery Rock High School/Slippery Rock, PA) drained a 3-pointer as time expired to tie the game, 32-32. Beaver maintained the momentum as the second half began, starting the half on a 14-4 run to build a 10-point lead by the 15-minute mark. Beaver sailed from that point to take the third place trophy.
Sophomore Nick Miller (Beaver Falls High School/Beaver Falls, PA) led the Lions with 23 points, seven assists, six steals, and five rebounds. Freshman Chris Weathers (New Brighton High School/New Brighton,PA) added 19 points and 14 rebounds for Beaver. Defensively, Beaver forced 25 NHTI turnovers.
Beaver closed its season with its best USCAA finish since 2008 when they finished second to Williamson Trade. Beaver, which holds a 20-11 record, won this year's PSUAC Championship.
