Beaver Earns First Place in PSUAC Western Division
Monaca, PA - On Monday, Feb. 1 the Penn State Beaver Nittany Lions men's basketball team defeated Penn State DuBois, 87-79, to take first place in the PSUAC Western Division with a record of 12-0.
In the first ten minutes of the first half, the lead changed back and forth until Beaver went on a scoring run that would eventually turn into a 48-27 halftime advantage. In the second half, Beaver kept a comfortable lead until the last three minutes of the game when DuBois cut its deficit to 8 points. However, Beaver's defense held DuBois back for the win.
Sophomore Anthony McPherson (Center High School, Monaca, PA) led all scorers with 35 points. McPherson shot 9-13 from the field, and knocked down 16 free throws. Senior Zack Fetchin (Hopewell High School, Aliquippa, PA) contributed 21 points in the victory.
Beaver is now 15-6 overall. On Saturday, Feb. 6 the Beaver Lions will travel to take on the Penn College Wildcats in a 3:00 p.m. game.
