Beaver Moves to PSUAC Championship, Fetchin Scores 2,000th Point
Monaca, PA - On Monday, Feb. 22 the Penn State Beaver men's basketball team advanced to the PSUAC Championship when it hosted and defeated Penn State DuBois, 89-80. Senior Zack Fetchin (Hopewell High School, Aliquippa, PA) scored an incredible 40 points off of 14-19 shooting and tallied his 2,000th career point.
Neither team led by more than 5 points until the last four minutes of play when Beaver went on a 7-point run that clinched its spot in the PSUAC Championship.
Sophomore Tony Houghton (Perry Traditional Academy, Pittsburgh, PA) had 17 points, and junior David McGarry (Poland Seminary High School, Poland, OH) contributed a solid 13 points and 9 boards. As a team, the Lions were very efficient, shooting 55.8% from the field.
Beaver will host the Penn College Wildcats in the PSUAC Championship at 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 23.
