29 Points from Fetchin Lead Beaver to 80-69 Win
Monaca, PA - On Saturday, Jan. 23 the Penn State Beaver Nittany Lions men's basketball team defeated Penn State Wilkes-Barre, 80-69.
At the break, Beaver held a small 6-point advantage, but went on a run at the beginning of the second half to eventually take an 18-point lead. Wilkes-Barre did make a comeback with just four minutes to go, bringing the score within 10 points, but couldn't manage to take the lead.
Beaver played well on both ends of the court as they recorded 14 steals and 15 assists versus Wilkes-Barre's five.
Senior Zack Fetchin (Hopewell High School, Aliquippa, PA) was unstoppable. For the game, Fetchin had an impressive 29 points off of 11-19 shooting. Sophomore Anthony McPherson (Center High School, Monaca, PA) added 10 points in the win while senior Tim Kubis (Hopewell High School, Aliquippa, PA) and freshman Jamison Gibson (Ambridge High School, Ambridge, PA) each had 8 points.
The win placed Beaver at 9-0 in the PSUAC and 12-6 overall. On Tuesday, Jan. 26 Beaver will travel to Penn State New Kensington for a game at 8:00 p.m.
