Lions Drop Another Heartbreaker at Nationals
Uniontown, PA - On Friday, March 5 the Penn State Beaver Nittany Lions basketball team ended its season with a heartbreaking loss, 57-55, to PSUAC rival Penn State Wilkes-Barre.
Beaver held the lead through most of the game, leading by as many as 9 points in the second half, but Wilkes-Barre battled back and moved in for the win in the final minute of the game.
Beaver senior Zac Fetchin (Hopewell High School, Aliquippa, PA) led Beaver in scoring with 14 points, and sophomore Anthony McPherson (Center High School, Monaca, PA) added 11 points. Junior David McGarry (Poland Seminary High School, Poland, OH) grabbed 12 rebounds.
Although Beaver ended its season with two losses, the team wrapped up one of its most successful seasons in recent years. Beaver finished at 20-9 for the season, won the PSUAC Championship, and tied for a seventh-place finish in the USCAA Tournament.
