Senior Zach Fetchin Beaver Is One Step Closer to PSUAC #1 Seed
Williamsport, PA - The Penn State Beaver men's basketball team moved one step closer to the #1 seed in the PSUAC when it defeated the Penn College Wildcats, 111-93, on Thursday, Feb. 18. Six Penn State Beaver players reached double figures.
When the Wildcats tied the game at 61-61 with ten minutes to go, Beaver went on a 13-point scoring run. Senior Zack Fetchin (Hopewell High School, Aliquippa, PA) converted a 1 and 1 on a tough reverse layup to push the Beaver lead to 76-61.
During the game the Lions shot an impressive 61.2% from the field and 65% from the 3-point line. Fetchin led Beaver with 27 points. Sophomore Tony Houghton (Perry Traditional Academy, Pittsburgh, PA) added 21 points, and senior Tim Kubis (Hopewell High School, Aliquippa, PA) contributed 16 points.
Seniors David McGarry (Poland Seminary High School, Poland, OH), Billy Stoughton (Slippery Rock High School, Slippery Rock, PA), and sophomore Anthony McPherson (Center High School, Monaca, PA) combined for 37 points.
Beaver is now 14-1 in the PSUAC and 17-7 overall. On Friday, Feb. 19 Beaver will host Penn State Fayette at 8:00 p.m.
