Monaca, PA - The Penn State Beaver Nittany Lions men's basketball team has done it again. The men are the 2010 Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) champions for the second consecutive year. The team has had two 20-wins seasons.
On Tuesday night, Feb. 23, Beaver hosted and defeated the Penn College Wildcats, 91-68. Beaver jumped to a 10-point lead early in the game and just kept going. In the first half, the Lions led by as many as 16 points and the score was 47-31 at halftime. Penn College cut into the lead repeatedly, but Beaver kept them at bay, never letting them get within 10 points.
Senior Zac Fetchin (Hopewell High School, Aliquippa, PA) led all scorers with 26 points, shooting 11-16 from the field. Junior David McGarry (Poland Seminary High School, Poland, OH) chipped in 18 points and sophomore Tony Houghton (Perry High School, Pittsburgh, PA) added 15 points. Fetchin grabbed 17 rebounds in the win to record his sixth double-double of the season.
Beaver advances to next week's USCAA Tournament with a 20-7 record. Seeds and schedules for the tournament, which will be held at Penn State Fayette, will be announced.
