Beaver Loses to Waynesburg University

On Wednesday, Jan. 21 the Penn State Beaver Nittany Lions basketball team ended their 9-game winning streak when they hosted and lost to the Waynesburg University Yellow Jackets, 74-71.
In the first half, Beaver led Waynesburg at the five-minute mark, 24-21, but the Yellow Jackets quickly gained control, 35-32. The lead changed ten times in the second half. With eight minutes remaining, Beaver led Waynesburg, 60-59, but the teams battled to the end. Beaver had two final opportunities to tie the game with decent 3-point shot attempts in the final seconds of the game, but the shots were just off the mark and Waynesburg escaped with a victory.
Zach Fetchin (Hopewell High School, Aliquippa, PA) recorded a double-double scoring 20 points and pulling in 12 rebounds. Freshman Tony Houghton (Perry Traditional Academy, Pittsburgh, PA) had 19 points and 4 rebounds.
Beaver will return to PSUAC play when they host the Penn State-Brandywine Nittany Lions at 8 p.m. on Friday, January 23rd.
