Monaca, PA - It was a rough day for Beaver as they struggled to get anything going against a talented Du Bois team and dropped both games with both finishing early. Beaver was only able to muster 4 hits, committed 8 errors, and used 7 pitchers between the two games. Neither game was ever close and it was just an overall tough day for Beaver as thier season end is fastly approaching.
Game one ended mercifully after the 6th inning where Du Bois scored 10 runs and shut out Beaver by a score of 15-0. Beaver was only able to get 3 hits, all singles I might add, compared to Du Bois 12. Beaver really struggled on the mound using 4 pitchers in 6 innings with all 15 runs being earned and walking 10 runners on base. Du Bois bats were alive the whole game, making things that much harder for Beaver to stop the bleeding. Du Bois pitcher, Zach Tiracorda, pitched an absolute gem and threw a nearly unhitable fastball that kept Beaver's bats from getting started.
Game two ended in the 5th inning with Du Bois pulling away and winning by a score of 12-1. Beaver only had one hit, but that hit was an RBI from Freshman, Chris Cann, (Seldan, NY), who also was the starting pitcher for game two. Beaver used three pitchers total in the game and they collectively gave up 13 hits through 5 innings and giving up 11 earned runs. Du Bois pitcher, Taylor Broland, pitched a very solid game for Du Bois, and like mentioned earlier, only gave up 1 hit which limited Beaver's offense.
it simply was a tough day on the diamond that will look to be avenged when Beaver hits the road tomorrow. Beaver now has an overall record of 2-26 and a PSUAC record of 2-12. They will face Du Bois again in another double-header away at 1pm and 3pm.
