Beavers Battle is Not Enough Against Westmoreland County CC 13-5
Monaca, PA - Beaver Baseball played their home opener today taking on Westmoreland Community College. Beaver has been battling hard so far this season, but has had no luck bringing home a win.
Westmoreland came out swinging in the first inning scoring 3 runs. Beaver responded by scoring 3 runs of their own to end the first inning. In the second inning, Beaver only gave up 1 run to Westmoreland and went to score 2 runs of their own. Neither team would score in the third inning. Westmoreland had a great offensive and defensive game scoring 1 run and holding Beaver to no runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings. Westmoreland would then end Beaver's chances of winning in the eighth and ninth innings scoring a total of 6 runs. Beaver battled hard, but could not overcome Westmoreland and lost 13-5.
Sophomore Jacob Gresham (San Francisco, CA) was one of four pitchers for Beaver, facing 12 batters. In the 12 batters faced, Gresham gave up 4 hits and 2 walks and also managed to get 4 strike outs. Junior Matthew Cater (Monaca, PA) also pitched for Beaver facing 20 batters. Cater gave up 7 hits and walked 2 batters. Cater was also able to strike out 2 batters. Sophomore Tylik Rouse (Macon, GA), freshman Nicholas Campbell (Lewes, DE), freshman Christopher Cann (Selden, NY), Matthew Cater, and sophomore Aaron Stribling (Hainesport, NJ) each scored a run for Beaver. Stribling had 2 RBIs and Cater had 1 RBI this game. In just one hit, sophomore Jericho Dela Cruz (Auburn, WA) had 2 RBIs.
