Beaver Splits First Games of the Season to Bethany College

Bethany, WV - The Lions took on a tough fight today playing in their first double header of the season. Spliting the 2 game series with Bethany College the Lions learned how to work together and fight back. Losing the first game of the series 11-1 the Lions gave all they had to come back in the second game and claim their first victory of the season 8-4. 

In the first game of the series Junior, Parker Walden helped score their only run by bringing in Freshman, Aaron Stribling with an RBI. Aaron Stribling and Sophomore, Matthew Cater both hit doubles in their first game of the season. The team stood behind their pitchers in this tough battle as Freshman Jacob Gresham and Freshman Michael Buonaiuto worked hard and faced a combined 36 batters.

In the second game the Lions were able to string together 12 hits for 8 runs and cut their errors in half only making 2 the second game. Freshman, Jericho Dela Cruz had 2 doubles and 3 RBI's for Beaver and Freshman Matt Galzerano hit 1 double and helped score with 2 RBI's. Senior, Dom Petrella pitched for the Lions through 5 innings, facing 23 batters and having 1 strike out. Junior, Parker Walden helped the Lions on the mound as well, finishing the last 2 innings for Beaver and having 1 strike out. 

The Lions now sit at 1-1 on the season and have yet to pay a PSUAC game yet. Their next game is scheduled to take place on March, 16th, after the return from Spring Break.
