Evan Pinchot - The Penn State Beaver baseball team traveled to Pullman Park on Tuesday, taking on Penn State Greater Allegheny for a doubleheader that would end up adding two more loses to Beaver's record this year.
Game one of the Tuesday's doubleheader was a rough one for Beaver, as nothing seemed to come together for them in this game. While Beaver's bats came out cold for the first 4 innings in this game, Greater Allegheny came out swininging, as they would racked up 5 runs by the end of the fourth inning. In the fourth inning, Beaver would come up with their only answer to Greater Allegheny's offense in this game, as they would tally 2 runs of their own on a single from Sophomore Eric Kim (John's Creek, Ga / Chattahoochee). After the fourth inning Beaver's bats would go quiet once again, as Greater Allegheny would pour on 5 more runs in the fifth and sixth innings, putting this game out of reach for Beaver, as they would go on to lose by a score of 10-2.
Game two proved to be a much tighter game, as Beaver would have benefit from a great starting pitching performance by one of their Senior aces Scott Hughes (Aliquippa, Pa / Central Valley). There would be no scoring in this game for either team until the fourth inning, when Beaver would put up 1 run in the top of the innings while Greater Allegheny would take the lead in this one with a 2 run rally in the bottom of the fourth. Just as it was the story in game one, Beaver's bats would once again go quiet after the fourth inning, which would ultimately be their downfall of the day, as Greater Allegheny would go on to win game two by a final score of 3-1.
With their two loses today, Beaver extends their losing streak to to 6 games in a row, taking their record to a 3-13 overall, with a 1-13 in conference record. Beaver will look to end their losing ways this Friday, April 16, as they will travel to Penn State Mont Alto for another doubleheader. Game one is scheduled to start at 2 pm, with game 2 to follow at 4 pm.
