Evan Pinchot - The Penn State Beaver baseball team traveled to Mont Alto this Tuesday, losing to Penn State Mont Alto to drop to a 2-5 overall record this season.
Beaver suffered yet another disappointing loss this Tuesday, as the team faced off against a tough opponent in Penn State Mont Alto, who came into this game with a 9-1 overall record. From beginning of this game, Mont Alto's bats would seem to be unstoppable, as they would put up 13 runs in the first 3 innings. Trying to keep up with a very good offense, Beaver struggled at the plate for the majority of the game, not scoring a run until the sixth inning. On the mound, Beaver would also have a rough day, as they would throw 5 different pitchers in this game in an attempt to stifle what seemed to be an unstoppable Mont Alto offense. In the seventh inning, Beaver would be able to string together 5 of their 6 runs on a pair of 2 RBI doubles from Senior Justyn Francona (New Brighton, Pa New Brighton High School) and Freshman Anthony Vargas ( - / Notre Dame), which would be the only spark from the Beaver offense all day. In the end, Beaver would leave with yet another loss, this time by a final score of 19-6.
After their disappointing loss to Mont Alto on Tuesday, Beaver now sits at 2-5 overall with an 0-5 record in conference play. Beaver will now look to get on the right track this season starting with their next matchup against Penn State Fayette this Thursday, April 3. This will be a doubleheader, with game one set to start at 2 pm, with game two to follow at 4 pm.
