The Penn State Beaver baseball team was dealt their first loss of the season Wednesday by Penn State Du Bois. Falling by a final score of 22-0, the team seemed to struggle in this game, allowing Du Bois to tally up 19 total hits in their 22 run outing.
This was a tough loss for Beaver, as Du Bois came out strong in this game by taking a 6 run lead in the first inning. Despite their best efforts, Beaver was never able to muster up any sort of comeback as Du Bois steadily tacked on to their lead in this game. Beaver ended the game with 8 hits as a team, including a 2-3 day at the plate by Senior Justyn Francona (New Brighton, Pa / New Brighton High School), which just were not enough to keep them in this one as they struggled to put a run on the board. In the end, the 19 hits and 12 walks Du Bois were able to collect at the plate were too much for Beaver to come back from, as they would go home losing by a final score of 22-0.
After their loss today, Penn State Beaver now holds a 2-1 record, both overall and in conference play. However, Beaver will look to bounce back from this rough outing quickly, as they will travel to Pullman Park in Butler, Pa, to take on the men from Penn State Greater Allegheny this Friday, March 26. Game time is set for 7:30 pm.
