Monaca, PA -- Beaver splits with Dubois in PSUAC double header.
In game one, Beaver started off quickly, holding Dubois scoreless in the first and then quickly getting runners on base in their at bat. However, a quick double play ball stalled their momentum resulting in a scoreless first for Beaver as well.
Beaver would give up runs in both the second and fifth innings before finally getting another man on base in the bottom of the fifth, but they weren't able to generate the run and fell by a final score of 2-0 after a complete seven innings.
In game two of the double header, Beaver got on the board first in the bottom of the third as Jake Debo doubled to score Blaise McCarty who singled in his at bat. Beaver held Dubois scoreless through four innings, allowing them to score a single run in the top of the fifth. The game would carry into extra innings with the game tied at 1-1.
In a tense eighth inning, Beaver allowed only a single hit and then went to work on offense. Leading off was Debo who drew the walk. After a long flyout to center field by Nick Casasanta, the following batter, Justyn Francona hit the game winning triple to score Debo and defeat Dubois 2-1 in extra innings.
Beaver is now 3-2 in the conference and returns to action Tuesday, March 28th when they host Butler County Community College in a double header slated for 2:00 p.m.
