Baseball drops double header against Penn State Brandywine
Monaca, PA: Beaver looses the first game 12-1, then drops the second game 8-6.

By: Ty Cole, It was all Penn State Brandywine the first game with them starting out to a 7-0 lead in the top of the third. Beaver would score their only run in the bottom of the third off a Junior Blaise McCarty (Beaver Falls, PA/Riverside) single scoring Senior Tyler Thellman (Beaver Falls, PA/Blackhawk). Brandywine would score five more runs to end the game winning 12-1 in six innings.
Beaver would only collect five hits in the first game. Sophomore Shawn Shaner (Adrian, PA/Kittanning) collected two hits. Junior Jake Debo (New Bighton, PA/New Brighton) would take the loss throwing three innings giving up six earned runs.
Brandywine would start the second game fast as well scoring four in the top of the first. Beaver would rally back scoring three, two off a Senior Dereck Bozic (Beaver Falls, PA/Beaver Falls) double. Bozic would score on the same play from an error. Beaer would take the lead in the bottom of the third scoring three runs making the score 6-5. McCarty singled in Thellman for the first run. Debo added an rbi single, as well as Junior Nick Casasanta (Moon Twp, PA/Moon). Brandywine would add three more runs increasing their lead to 8-6 which would end up being the final score.
The Beaver offense collected 14 hits the second game out hitting Brandywine by four. Thellman led the offense with three hits. Five Beaver players contributed two hits as well. McCarty stole two bases for Beaver also. Sophomore Daniel Vanderslice (Sharon, PA/Sharon) took the loss for Beaver. Vanderslice threw six innings giving up eight runs.
Beaver is back in action Wednesday at home facing off against rival Penn State Greater Allegheny. The game starts at 2:00 p.m. followed by a game at 5:00 p.m.
