Monaca, PA-- Tuesday afternoon Penn State Beaver hosted Butler Community College in a double header on a cloudy, windy afternoon.
In the first game of the double header Beaver couldnt capalize any runs. After two complete innings Butler led Beaver 3-0. Shawn Shaner (Adrian, PA / Kittanning) base hit led Vinnie Ribar (Moon Twp, PA / Moon) scored to make the score 3-1. In the sixth inning Nick Casasanta (Moon Twp, PA / Moon) doubled sending Rob Trhilin (Chesterland, OH / West Geauga) home to make the score 3-2.
In the last inning the game became intense and very close. There were two outs and two runners on base. Beaver couldnt capalize on bringing them home, Beaver fell short to Butler 3-2 in a very close matchup in the first game of the double header.
In the second game of the double header Beaver would turn things around in this game.
In the first inning, Beaver would score two runs, Trhilin scored home and Jake Debo (New Brighton, PA / New Brighton) also scored. In the second inning Beaver's Ashton Mcginnis (Ford City, PA / Ford City) would add another run to push to lead to 3-0.
Butler didnt give up though. Butler scored 2 runs in the fourth inning to make the score 3-2.
In the fifth inning BEaver would answer right back with runs from Jordan Price (Conway, PA/Freedom), Duncan Miklos (Beaver Falls, PA/Blackhawk), Matt Capo (Moon, PA/Moon township) all scored to make the game 6-2.
Butler would score in the sixth inning but it wasnt enough to come back and bring the score close.
Beaver would go on to win 6-3.
Beaver's next game in April 1st against St. Josephs (VT) at 2 and 5 p.m.
