Beaver picks up first win of the 2015 season.
Beaver defeats Rock Valley, 8-3.
Vero Beach, Fl -- Beaver picks up first win of the 2015 season defeating Rock Valley College 8-3.
In their second game of the day, Beaver turned things around despite the game starting off close. After the first inning, the teams were tied at 1-1. In the top of the 3rd inning Beaver gain a one run advantage (2-1), but Rock Valley quickly answered in the bottom of the fourth with two runs of their own to take the lead, 3-2.
In the top of the 5th inning, Beaver found their stride on offense, scoring 3 runs and then adding 3 more in the top of the 7th all while holding Rock Valley scoreless for the remainder of the game. Beaver would win by a final score of 8-3.
Leading the offense were Nick Casasanta (Moon Twp, PA / Moon) and Blaise McCarty (Beaver Falls, PA / Riverside). Casasanta went 3 for 4 with 2 RBI's while McCarty went 2 for 3 with 3 RBI's.
On the mound, earning the win, was freshman, Jake Debo (New Brighton, PA / New Brighton) who threw 5 innings giving up 1 hit and 3 runs. Closing the game was McCarty who threw the final two innings with an impressive 5 strikeouts.
Beaver will return to action tomorrow when they face Norwich University for a double-header.
