Beaver falls in first round of the PSUAC playoffs
Penn College tops Beaver 4-0
Mont Alto, PA -- Penn State Beaver Baseball opened the PSUAC Championship against Penn College Friday morning.
In the opening round of the Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference playoffs Penn State Beaver fell short against cross state rival Penn College. Beaver fell behind early giving up a two run lead in the first inning and were unable to capatalize on their chances in the closing innings of the contest eventually falling by a final score of 4-0.
Tyler Schuster (Beaver Falls, PA/Beaver Falls) started on the hill for Penn State Beaver. Schuster pitched a strong 5 and 1/3 innings allowing 4 runs on 5 hits and 3 walks while striking out 4.
Beavers offense on the otherhand was stagnant for most of the game. Grant Scott (Sexickly, PA/ Ann Arbor Pioneer), and Derek Bozic (Beaver Falls, PA/Beaver Falls) led the offense each of them reaching base twice. Only 8 batters reached base for Beaver during the game, 6 of which were left on base.
This loss closes the door on Beaver's 2014 campaign. Beaver finished with an overall record of 14 wins and 14 losses, while posting a 12 win and 9 loss conference record this year, finishing in 6th place in the PSUAC.
