Beaver Baseball drops first game of Spring Trip
Beaver Loses, 2-1
Vero Beach, FL- Penn State Beaver Baseball opened the season with a contest against Bridgewater State March 9 at the historic Holman Stadium. The Lions fell short in their matchup by a score of 2–1.
Senior Tyler Schuster (Beaver Falls, PA/ Beaver Falls) gave it his all on the mound, pitching a full 8 innings only allowing 2 runs on 8 hits while striking out 5.
The offense was led by junior Rob Trhlin (Chesterland, OH/ West Geauga) who collected 2 hits in 3 at bats and a stolen base. Freshmen Gavin High (Lancaster, PA/ Conestoga Valley), Albert Araiza (Phoenix, St. Mary's), Blaise McCarty (Beaver Falls, PA/ Riverside), and Austin Logan (Beaver, PA/ Beaver) all collected their first career hits for Penn State Beaver in the matchup.
Bridgewater State opened up the scoring in the third, taking a 1-0 lead. Beaver responded in the top of the fourth to tie the game, on a two out RBI single by High. Bridgewater scored the game winner in the fifth, as both teams remained scoreless the rest of the way.
Penn State Beaver (0-1) will be in action again March 10, with a double header against Hagerstown Community College and Norwich University.
