Media, PA -- In their first conference game of the season, Beaver traveled to Brandywine for an afternoon double-header. Junior, Tyler Schuster (Beaver Falls, PA/Beaver Falls) was on the mound for the lions, he threw six innings giving up four hits, and two earned runs but struck out four batters. Offensively, the team was behind him with 5 total hits with Bill Harrington (Monaca, PA/Central Valley) getting two hits and an RBI, Cory Wagner (Monaca, PA/Center) hitting a double and Mike Ross (New Castle, PA/Neshannock) also earning an RBI, but it wasn't enough to hold off Brandywine who took the game by a score of 4-2.
In the second game of the double-header, Beaver hit the ball very well with 12 total hits. Alex Filippi (Aliquippa, PA/Center) lead Beaver with four hits and an RBI. Right behind him was Markus Allen (New Castle, PA/Union) with three hits and three RBI's including a two run home-run. Also hitting well were Grant Scott (Sewickley, PA/Ann Arbor Pioneer) who had a solo home run and two RBI's and Mike Ross again who had two more hits and two RBI's in the game. On the mound in the second game was senior, Cory Wagner who got the win in 7 innings giving up 10 hits, three earned runs and striking out four batters.
The Lions return to action Wednesday, March 27th when they are scheduled to face Point Park University at 1:00 p.m.
