Beaver beats Rochester College 6-3
Lions improve to 2-3
Vero Beach, FL--- Penn State Beaver won their second game of their spring trip, defeating Rochester College 6-3 on Wednesday morning in sunny Vero Beach, Florida. Beaver got a good start from senior Vincent Beatty (Rochester, Rochester) who went 4 and 2/3 innings, giving up 3 earned runs on 5 hits. Freshman Brad Verlihay (Beaver Falls, Blackhawk) came in for relief and pitched 2 and 1/3 scoreless innings giving up zero hits and getting his first collegiate victory.
After a slow start to the trip, the Beaver offense has been strong the last two games as Beaver compiled 7 hits in the victory. Mike Karas (Imperial, West Allegheny) finished with 2 RBI and a run scored while Michael Ross (New Castle, Neshannock), Jim Musgrave (Economy, Ambridge) and Cory Wagner (Monaca, Center) each drove in a run.
The win gives Beaver their second victory of the season and will play again tomorrow, once again against Rochester College, with first pitch at 1pm.
