Beaver continued its winning ways today as they traveled to Penn State Hazelton and collected two victories by scores of 15-3 and 9-0.
The starting pitcher in game one was Cory Wagner (Monaca, Center High School) who went all five innings of the run-ruled shortened game, giving up two earned runs on eight hits while picking up the victory. The Beaver offense got going early in the game and continued to be productive throughout game one. Markus Allen (New Castle, Union), Zack DelTurco (Monaca, Monaca), Garrett Covalt (Aliquippa, Hopewell) and Tom Lewis (Aliquippa, Hopewell) each had two hits. Covalt had a double, DelTurco added two doubles and Allen launched a three-run homer in the first. Allen and DelTurco each had three RBI and Mike Karas (Imperial, West Allegheny) drove in two runs.
Wagner started game two as well, and went six innings allowing no runs on just two hits while earning his second win of the day as Beaver won game two 9-0. Beaver's offense was once again productive as they scored in three different innings. Karas had three hits while Wagner and Jimmy Musgrave (Economy, Ambridge) each had two hits. Musgrave had three RBI and Lewis had two RBI.
The two wins keeps Beaver in first place in the PSUAC conference and will finish up regular season conference play on Saturday when they play at Penn State Scranton.
