Monaca, PA - At Penn State Beaver, Clark State defeated Beaver 14-3 in game one of the doubleheader but Beaver battled back in game 2 to win 6-1.
Ron Wilkins (Hookstown, South Side) took the hill in game 1 for Beaver, tossing 4 innings allowing 3 earned runs on 6 hits. Offensively for Beaver, Zack DelTurco (Monaca, Monaca) and Markus Allen (New Castle, Union) each had two hits and DelTurco scored two runs. Beaver finished the game with 7 hits, which also included an Andrew DiPietrantonio (Beaver, Beaver) double. Mike Karas (Imperial, West Allegheny), Billy Harrington (Monaca, Central Valley) and Tom Lewis (Aliquippa, Hopewell) each had an RBI.
In game two, DelTurco took the mound and delivered a great performance for Beaver, throwing the complete seven innings, allowing just one earned run on 5 hits and striking out 7. The Beaver offense collected nine hits, including two from Lewis. DelTurco, Allen, Lewis, Jimmy Musgrave (Economy, Ambridge), and Grant Scott (Sewickley, Ann Arbor Pioneer) each had an RBI. Musgrave, DiPietrantonio, and DelTurco all had a double.
Penn State Beaver will travel to Penn State Fayette on Wednesday to continue in PSUAC conference play with games scheduled to start at 2 and 4.
