In Vero Beach Florida, the Penn State Beaver baseball team was defeated for the second time this season by Hagerstown Community College by a score of 5-2 in extra innings. The score was tied at one after seven innings of play and Hagerstown was able to score four in the top of the eighth to give them the lead for good. Beaver got an excellent pitching performance by Vinny Beatty (Rochester, Rochester High School) who threw seven innings while giving up one run on only two hits and striking out four. Unfortunately for Beaver, their offense was unable to get Beatty the run support he needed.
Beaver scored one in the fourth when Garrett Covalt (Aliquippa, Hopewell High School) scored on a Zack Del Turco (Monaca, Monaca High School) RBI single and then in the eighth Del Turco scored on a Grant Scott (Sewickley, Ann Arbor Pioneer High School) RBI double. On the day, Del Tiurco finished with three hits as Beaver's record falls to 2-2.
