Beaver Drops Two in PSUAC Against Penn College

Monaca, PA- On Thursday, the Penn State Beaver Lions dropped two against the visiting Wild Cats of Penn College. Game one, Beaver and Penn College went pitch for pitch and play for play as they held each other scoreless in the first two innings. Finally breaking the scoring drought was Penn College rallying in 4 runs against the Lions.
The Wild Cats would add 3 more runs in the top of the 5th to go up 7-0. Beaver went scoreless until the bottom of the sixth when they rallied in 4 runs and looked to make come back. Beaver held the Wild Cats to no runs in the top of the 7th and stepped up to the plate for one last chance at coming back. Unfortunetly, the Wild Cats were able to close the game out holding Beaver to no runs in the bottom of the 7th and winning by a final of 7-4.
Junior Greg Frederick (Quaker Valley/Swickely, PA) pitched all 7 innings with 11 strikeouts. Sophomore Huston Lorenzo (South West/Miami, FL) and Frederick led with 2 RBI's each.
In game two, Beaver looked to redeam themsevles aginst the Wild Cats. Giving up one run in the top of the first, Beaver answered back in the bottom of the inning with a run of their own to tie the game at 1-1. The 2nd inning Beaver let it slip away from them, as Penn College rallied in 7 runs to go up 8-1. Penn College added one more run to their score in the top of the third and Beaver looked to chip away at Penn College's lead scoring a run in the bottom of the inning.
The Wild Cats answered back with another run in the top of the 5th and 3 more runs in the top of the 7th. However, Beaver did not give up rallying 3 final runs in the bottom of the 7th. The Lions would come up short and with a loss by a final of 13-5. Junior Ryan Raraigh (Riverside/Fombell, PA) and Frederick led with 2 RBI's each.
The Lions (9-7, 6-8) will travel to the home of the Red Hawks, La Roche College, on Saturday, April 11th. Game time is set for 1p.m.
