Beaver Takes Two From Jamestown CC

Monaca, PA- The Penn State Beaver Lion's hosted the Jayhawks of Jamestown Community College on Saturday, for a non-conference double-header. In game one, the Jayhawk swooped in first with a run in the top of the 2nd. Beaver answered back with three runs to their one in the bottom of the 2nd. Remaining scoreless the 3rd inning, Beaver tacked on another run in the bottom of the 4th to go up on the Jayhawks 4-1. Rallying back in the top of the fifth, the Jayhawks gave Beaver a scare bringing in 4 runs. Beaver re-gained their lead in the bottom of the fifth scoring 3 more runs. Holding the Jayhaws scoreless in the 6th and 7th, Beaver defeated Jamestown Community College by a final 12-5.
Junior Joe Scherer (Quaker Valley/Sweickley, PA) started and pitched a complete game, striking out five. Junior Ryan Raraigh (Riverside/Riverside, PA) led the way with 2 hits, one of which was a Home run and 3 RBI's.
In game two, Beaver showed no mercy scoring 5 runs in the bottom of the first against the Jayhawks. Jamestown answered with two runs of their own in the top of the 2nd, but could not stop the hot bats of Beaver as they added on 4 more runs of their own. Jamestown scored one more in the top of the third to bring the score to 9-3. Beaver struck again in the bottom of the fourth adding one more run. Giving up only one more run to the Jayhawks, Beaver defeated Jamestown Community College by a final 10-5.
Sophomore Jake Ellis started and pitched a complete game, striking out 5. Beaver was led by Dan Sonsini (Aliquippa/Aliquippa, PA) with 2 hits and 1 run. Sophomore Huston Lorenzo (South West Miami/Miami, FL) also led with 2 hits, 2 runs, and 1 RBI. Raraigh cranked another Home run in game two and brought in 2 RBI's.
Beaver will now travel to Clarion University home of the Golden Eagles on Monday, March 30 for a non-conference double-header. Game is set to begin at 1p.m.
