Beaver Eliminated from USCAA Tournament
On Wednesday, May 14 the Penn State Beaver Nittany Lions baseball team was eliminated from the USCAA Tournament when they lost to Vermont's Lyndon State College, 4-3, in Virginia Beach, VA.
Lyndon State opened the game scoring three times in the top of the first inning to build a 3-0 lead. Beaver tried but couldn't push a run across the plate. In the bottom of the sixth, Beaver's hard work paid off when the Lions scored three to tie the game.
Senior Pat Ringel (Sto-Rox High School) and freshman Nate Stonfer (Ambridge High School) each had RBI singles in the inning. Lyndon wasted no time in coming back, though, and scored the winning run in the top of the seventh.
Sophomore Greg Frederick (Quaker Valley High School) pitched seven innings, gave up five hits, walked five, and struck out six in the loss. Ringel and Stonfer led Beaver with two hits each.
Beaver ended the season at 18-6 in the PSUAC and 36-20 overall.
