Lions Fall to Nyack College
On Thursday, March 13 the Penn State Beaver Nittany Lions baseball team fell to Nyack College, 6-4, in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Nyack struck first, posting a run in both the third and sixth innings to take a 2-0 lead. After Beaver knocked on the door in the sixth and seventh, but didn't post any runs, Nyack scored four to take a 6-0 lead. Beaver came alive in the eighth inning, scoring four runs to pull within two. Nyack threatened the Lions in the ninth, but freshman Alex Fox (Ellwood City High School) struck out the side. Beaver put a runner on in the ninth, but he didn't get past second base before the final out was recorded.
In the loss, freshman Jake Ellis (Seneca Valley High School) pitched six strong innings, giving up two runs, four hits, walking three, and striking out eight. Offensively, sophomore Joe Scherer (Quaker Valley High School) had two hits in the loss.
The Lions take on Northwestern College in a morning game on Friday, March 14 in Fort Pierce, Florida.
