Geneva's Revenge- Golden Tornadoes Avenge Earlier Loss
The Penn State Beaver baseball team traveled to Beaver Falls, PA for the second time in a week to take on Geneva College. Beaver defeated Geneva in that game by a score of 9-8.
In game one, Geneva would strike first, scoring three times in the top of the third. Beaver would answer in the bottom of the inning, scoring twice. Geneva would add one in the fourth and one in the fifth to take a 5-2 lead. Beaver would rally in its final at bat, but the raly would come up one run short and Beaver would lose 5-4. Sophomore Joe Scherer (Quaker Valley High School) took the loss, pitching seven innings, giving up ten hits, walking two and striking out two. Offensively, Freshman Jake Ellis (Seneca Valley High School), Sophomores Ryan Raraigh (Riverside High School) and Greg Frederick (Quaker Valley High School) and Senior Pat Ringel (Sto Rox High School) all had two hits in the loss.
In game two, it was all Geneva. The Tornadoes would score in all but two innings to win 11-2. Freshman Ronnie Wilkins (South Side High School) would take the loss, pitching five innings, giving up seven hits, walking four and striking out three. Ringel and Frederick would each have two hits. Freshman Huston Lorenzo (Miami, FL) led the way offensively with three hits.
The Lions return to action Sunday, when they travel to Erie, PA to take on Gannon University. First pitch is scheduled for 1PM.
