Beaver Splits Doubleheader with Gannon
On Sunday, March 30 the Penn State Beaver Nittany Lions baseball team traveled to Erie to take on DII Gannon University in a doubleheader.
In game one, Beaver only had three hits. Senior Pat Ringel (Sto Rox High School) took the loss on the mound and pitched seven innings, gave up three earned runs on five hits, walked two, and struck out seven. Gannon scored one in the first, two in the third, and one in the fifth for a 4-0 victory.
Beaver took over in game two when they scored one in the first, three in the third, and two in the seventh for a 4-0 victory. Sophomore Greg Frederick (Quaker Valley High School) pitched seven shutout innings, gave up three hits, walked one, and struck out six. Frederick and sophomore Ryan Raraigh (Riverside High School) each had two hits in the win. Ringel went 4-4 and scored two runs.
Beaver returns to action on Tuesday, April 1 when they travel to Geneva College for the last of a five-game series.
