Lions Knock Off Apprentice Again
For the second time in two days, the Beaver Nittany Lions baseball team knocked off USCAA powerhouse Apprentice College.
Apprentice scored a run in the top of the first, but Beaver took a 2-1 lead when they scored two in the bottom of the first. The Nittany Lions added one in the second before Apprentice scored twice in the fourth inning to tie the game, 3-3. Beaver built an 8-5 lead, scoring three in the fifth and two in the sixth. Apprentice kicked it in during the last inning, scoring four to tie the game at 8-8.
In the bottom of the seventh, freshman Alex Fox (Ellwood City High School) knocked a 2-1 pitch over the right field fence for a walk-off home run and a 9-8 win.
Senior Pat Ringel (Sto Rox High School) pitched all seven innings for the win and gave up seven hits, walked two, and struck out seven. Offensively, sophomore Greg Frederick (Quaker Valley High School) had four hits, three doubles, one triple, two runs, and drove in three. Freshman Huston Lorenzo (Miami, FL) had two hits and two runs.
The Lions return to PSUAC action on Thursday, April 10 when they host Penn State Fayette for a 2 p.m. doubleheader.
