Athletics Department Releases 2014-15 Schedules
Beaver Athletics unveils 2014-15 varsity sports schedules.
Monaca, PA -- Beaver Athletics officially announces their varsity sports schedules for the 2014 - 2015 seasons.
This fall, the women's volleyball team, who is coming off a 10-6 conference season, is looking to make their second consecutive PSUAC Elite 8 appearance after falling to Mont Alto last season. They kick off this season with the USCAA Tip-Off Tournament in Elizabeth, PA and then play host to the first ever PSUAC/WPCC Challenge featuring two other PSUAC schools as well as Penn Highlands Community College, Westmoreland County Community College and the Community College of Beaver County.
Women's Soccer, after winning their first two games in the program's history last season, is looking to improve on their 2-2 PSUAC record as well as facing a new PSUAC opponent, Penn State Mont Alto.
After falling the in the PSUAC Championship game against Brandywine last October, the Men's Soccer team plans to improve on their 7-5-1 PSUAC record this season and reappear in the championship game. Out of conference they will face some new opponents including Stevenson University and Alfred State.
Moving into the winter season, the Men's and Women's basketball teams will kick off their seasons with the annual Alumni Game on October 25th. The Lady Lions, coming off a 15-3 PSUAC record, are looking to defend their PSUAC Championship against Penn State Brandywine and reappear in the USCAA National Tournament. They will also face some new non-conference opponents including Davis and Elkins and Slippery Rock University.
Men's Basketball, after losing in the opening round of the PSUAC Final Four to Penn State Mont Alto last season, is looking to not only improve on their PSUAC performance but to make it back to the USCAA Division II National Championship game where they fell last year to Andrews.
Rounding out the winter sports season is wrestling who went 2-2 in the PSUAC last season defeating Penn State New Kensington and Penn State Fayette. This year Coach Winkle plans to expand his roster as well as his non-conference schedule. Wrestling will be traveling to two new quad matches this season at Defiance College and UMBC (University of Maryland Baltimore County)
This spring Softball plans to return to the top of the PSUAC after a tough season in 2014. Going just 5-11 in the conference last year, the Lady Lions look to climb the PSUAC ranks and return to the top as they did in 2013. They will also be facing some new non-conference opponents including Grove City College and Bowie State.
Beaver Baseball, after finishing 12-9 in the PSUAC last season and suffering a first round PSUAC tournament loss to Penn College, looks to climb the PSUAC ranks as well in 2015.
