Coach Kelvin Navarro: A New Face in a New Era of E-Sports
Penn State Beaver Introduces New E-Sports Head Coach, Kelvin Navarro
Penn State Beaver E-Sports is extremely excited to announce the hiring of new Head Coach, Kelvin Navarro. Coach Navarro will be the first head coach to lead the new team into the next generation of Penn State Beaver Athletics. E-Sports at Penn State Beaver will hit the circuit Fall 2025, when they begin competition.
Coach Navarro comes from the Philadelphia area over to Beaver County. In Philadelphia, Coach Navarro gained his Dental Hygiene and Local Anesthesia Licenses from the Community College of Philadelphia. While in school, Coach Navarro earned the Emerging Leader Award which helped further his passion and desire to coach. “I’m excited to begin coaching the E-Sports team at Penn State Beaver because my favorite part of dental hygiene was educating the youth” said Coach Kelvin Navarro. Educating youth about his passions is something that drives Coach Navarro and getting to experience something they feel passionate about with them will be an exciting experience. As a life-long gamer himself, Coach Navarro is ready to show off his passion for games like Fortnite, Mass Effect, and of course Pokémon Go, which he can be found around campus playing frequently. Coach Navarro says he “loves coaching E-Sports because regardless of the player’s current ability anyone can up their game and find their passion through the team”.
Penn State Beaver Athletics is excited about this opportunity to expand the department and add a new coach with the excitement for the expansion that Coach Navarro has. Athletic Director, Andy Kirschner said “We look forward to working with Coach Navarro to develop this program and be a pioneer in the PSUAC and USCAA for E-Sports. This program is an exciting opportunity for the department and the campus community.” Our staff and students look forward to having Coach Kelvin Navarro join us and develop the program. We look forward to competing and cannot wait for the season to begin.
The E-Sports lounge will be located in the Laboratory Classroom Building Room 104. For more information regarding how to join E-Sports please contact Coach Navarro at kin5137@psu.edu or Athletic Director, Andy Kirschner at ack121@psu.edu.
