Lions Sweep Away the Competition
The Lions remain undefeated as conference play continues after going 2-0 over the weekend
Mont Alto, PA - The Lions have been on a roll to begin their season on a big winning streak. The Lions have yet to lose to an opponent in conference play, and that did not change tonight after getting a win to end their double-header weekend in a sweep.
The first quarter began in Mont Alto's favor after they scored the first points of the game. They also started off on a 4-0 before Beaver could get a bucket. Just two minutes into the game, and it was already tied 8-8. Then it wasn't for a couple more minutes that Beaver was able to break the tie to take the lead. Beaver held onto this lead and extended it to a large one. The quarter ended with Beaver up 31-16.
The second quarter went much the end of the first. Beaver continued to run up the score and play great defense. By the end of the ten minutes, Beaver was up 53-32.
Beaver played an amazing third quarter only allowing Mont Alto to score 8 points the entire 10 minutes and scored 32 points themselves. The third ended with the score 85-40.
The last ten minutes both teams scored very little. Beaver was able to end the weekend with a 92-50 win over Mont Alto.
First year Claudia Siegfried (Wilkes-Barre, PA) was the highest scorer for the Lions finishing with 37 points. Siegfried also had 1 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals. Second year Makitah Logan (Pittsburgh, PA) also put up high numbers finishing with 24 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, and 5 steals. First year Emery Black (New Braunfels, TX) finished with 12 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal.
The Lions will be back at the Beaver Fieldhouse taking on Penn State Wilkes-Barre on Friday, December 8. Tipoff begins at 6pm EST so be sure to come out and show your support.
