Brandywine Knocks Off Beaver 3-1

MEDIA, Pa. -- Zoey Lineman (West Deptford, N.J./GCIT) had a hand in all three goals as the Penn State Brandywine women's soccer team defeated Penn State Beaver 3-1 on Saturday afternoon.

Lineman netted her first goal of the year and added two assists for a four-point day. She put the first goal of the day on the board during the 22nd minute, lofting a long shot over the outstretched hands of Beaver goalkeeper Kierstyn Mays.

The margin doubled to 2-0 exactly four minutes later when Lineman swiped a Beaver goal kick and found Hope Priemon (Springfield, Pa./Springfield), who also scored her first goal of the season.

Beaver answered quickly with a goal to get within 2-1 at the half, but the second half belonged to Brandywine. The Lions outshot the hosts 21-3 during the final 45 minutes and added an insurance marker during the 56th minute. Lineman found Haylie Hickerson (Blackwood, N.J./Highland Regional), who headed in her first collegiate goal to provide the final margin.

Brandywine outshot Beaver 43-9 and put 27 shots on target. Lineman and Jaylin Berrios (Lancaster, Pa./McCaskey) both recorded six shots on goal to pace the Lions.

In net for the Lions, Emily Orr (Eddystone, Pa./Ridley) made her first start of the year, earning the win after making three stops during the first 40 minutes. Demareste Dorvilma (Carteret, N.J./Carteret) relieved Orr and stopped two shots over the final 55 minutes.

Brandywine (2-1-1, 2-0 PSUAC) will play three home matches during the next week beginning with Tuesday's non-conference bout with Bucks County at 4:00 PM.
