SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Pa. – Penn State Schuylkill Women's Soccer won their PSUAC opener against Penn State Beaver, 17-0.
Schuylkill wasted no time getting on the scoreboard as goals from Brittney Holland (Andreas, PA / Lehighton Area), Nia Bronson (Pine Grove, PA / Pine Grove), and back-to-back strikes by Grace Fenstermacher (Schuylkill Haven, PA / Nativity BVM) gave Schuylkill a commanding 4-0 lead just 8:56 into the contest. Schuylkill maintained its dominance throughout the first period, with Olivia Dress (Schuylkill Haven, PA / Schuylkill Haven) leading the charge, netting three goals. In total, Schuylkill scored 12 goals in the opening period.
Zoë Gannon (Leesport, PA / Schuylkill Valley) picked up where Schuylkill left off in the second period, scoring the team's first three goals, with her final strike coming at the 72:11 mark. Holland and Bronson capped off Schuylkill's commanding performance by scoring the last two goals at the 76:02 and 79:05 marks, respectively. Schuylkill overwhelmingly dominated the shot tally, outshooting the opposition 56-1.
Holland, Bronson, Dress, and Gannon each finished with three goals, while Fenstermacher contributed two. Ashlee Zimmerman (Lansford, PA / Marian Catholic), Kylee Fehr (Orwigsburg, PA / Blue Mountain), and Ivy Daniels (Wiconisco, PA / William Valley Area) also found the back of the net for Schuylkill.
Schuylkill (2-1-1 overall, 1-0 PSUAC) will return to action a week from today as they travel to Penn State Mont Alto.
