Volleyball advances to PSUAC semifinals

Penn State Mont Alto 3, Penn State Beaver 1

Penn State Mont Alto got out to a hot start on Wednesday evening in the PSUAC Quarterfinals by winning the first set 25-11. Mont Alto would also take the second set 25-19 before dropping the third set 25-23. Following some adjustments, Penn State Mont Alto was able to recover by dominating set four and winning 25-12. 

 

With Wednesday's victory, the team will travel to Penn State's Rec Hall to take on Penn State Brandywine on Monday evening at 7 p.m. 

 

Breann King paced the Beaver offense with a team-leading seven kills on 21 attack attempts. Daniela Guzman had six kills on 22 attempts. Penn State Mont Alto was led offensively by Kylee Gooding and Gracie Vaughn who each had twelve kills.

 

Kylie Denlinger had a team-high 30 assists for Penn State Mont Alto as Brooke Denlinger provided the other assist of the team's 31. Courtney Simpkins (10) and Breann King (6) paced Penn State Beaver in assists.

 

Brooke Denlinger led the defense for Mont Alto with 17 digs and Gracie Vaughn had two solo and three assisted blocks. Daniela Guzman had nine digs for Penn State Beaver and Jakelia Baker was the team leader in solo blocks with two on the evening.

 

Gabby Baughman (6) and Kylie Denlinger (4) paved the way for Mont Alto combining for 10 of the team's 12 service aces.
