Penn State New Kensington Dominates in Game 1 Victory Over Penn State Beaver
Beaver, PA – Penn State New Kensington started their doubleheader on a high note, delivering a commanding 15-4 victory over Penn State Beaver in Game 1. Strong hitting, aggressive baserunning, and solid pitching fueled the dominant performance.
The visiting New Kensington squad wasted no time getting on the scoreboard. In the first inning, Miguel Garcia's sacrifice fly brought home Vaughn Gallicano for an early 1-0 lead. The offense erupted in the second inning with a series of timely hits and costly defensive errors from Beaver, resulting in a six-run explosion. Key contributions included an RBI single from Nat Greenslet, a bases-loaded walk by Thomas Santiago Jr., and a sacrifice fly from Adrian Cruz, giving New Kensington an 8-0 advantage.
Beaver managed to put two runs on the board in the third inning after an RBI double from Aaron Stribling and a run-scoring single by Justin Lambert, trimming the deficit to 10-2. However, any hopes of a comeback were dashed in the fifth when Garcia launched a two-run homer to extend the lead to 12-2.
Beaver briefly responded with two runs in the bottom half of the fifth, thanks to a two-run double from Andres Molinar. But New Kensington shut the door with a three-run seventh inning, highlighted by a bases-clearing double from Cruz, sealing the 15-4 win.
On the mound, Cole Lambdin (1-0) delivered a solid start, pitching six innings while allowing only two earned runs on nine hits with two strikeouts. Terry Johnson closed out the game with a scoreless seventh inning.
With this dominant victory, Penn State New Kensington moves to 1-0 on the season and looks to carry the momentum into Game 2 of the doubleheader.
