Women's Basketball Comes Up Short at Penn State Beaver

Monaca, PA - The first quarter was highly competitive with a 13-13 score to end the period. Schuylkill shot 46 percent from the field while Beaver shot 33 percent.

Schuylkill converted on their first possession of the second quarter on a Tajae Stevenson (Patterson, NJ / International High School) made jump shot, giving Schuylkill a 15-13 lead early in the period. A made layup by Kassidy Ingram (Abington, PA / Trinity High School) after a 3-point make by Beaver put Schuylkill in the driver's seat for the majority of the quarter.

Schuylkill refused to relinquish the lead during the period, having an answer for every Beaver score. An 11-0 run in the final minutes of the second quarter gave Beaver a 31-23 advantage going into the second half.

A 7-0 stretch by Schuylkill to begin the third quarter brought their deficit to 31-30 with 6:19 remaining. Schuylkill outscored Beaver 12-7 in the period, with 8 of their 12 points coming from the charity stripe.

A made layup by Stevenson with 9:20 remaining in the fourth gave Schuylkill their first lead since the second period. A 10-0 run midway through the period gave Beaver a 53-44 advantage with 5:04 remaining in the contest.

Schuylkill continued to battle, going on a 7-0 run to bridge the gap to 53-51 with just over a minute remaining in regulation. A made Beaver layup with 39 seconds remaining pushed the lead to 55-51. Schuylkill would have chances late but was unable to capitalize.

Stevenson led Schuylkill with 18 points and 9 rebounds. Ingram added 16 points and 6 rebounds.
