Tough Loss for the Lions
Monaca, PA - Beaver played their final home game tonight against Penn State Shenango. Before the game, the Lions celebrated fourth year Ana Luisa Galante for all her hardwork and dedication the past four years she has been a part of the Women's Volleyball Team.
Beaver struggled tonight against Penn State Shenango. Shenango was able to play off of every mistake the Lions made tonight, which ultimately led to their 3-1 win over Beaver. In the first set, Shenango came out with a 25-17 win. Beaver turned it around in the second set pulling out a 25-17 win over Shenango. The third set was very close, but it was Shenango who closed out the set with a 25-21 win. the fourth set went much like the third with the match remaining close, but Shenango was able to play off of Beaver's mistakes at the end and pulled out a 25-22 win. Beaver ended their last home game in a 3-1 loss to Shenango.
Fourth year Ana Luisa Galante (Sao Paulo, Brazil) played a great game on her Senior Night finishing with 1 ace and 9 digs. Third year Lanie French (Beaver, PA) had an outstanding night finishing with 22 kills, 1 ace, and 13 digs. Second year Courtney Simpkins (Palm BAy, FL) finished with her highest number of assists having 44 and also finished with 1 ace, 1 kill, and 15 digs. First year Zoie Reid (Salem. OH) finished with 11 kills, 2 aces, and 21 digs. Third year Alexis Reid (Clinton, NC) finished with 1 kill, 2 aces, and 3 digs.
Beaver will be back in play traveling to take on Penn State Mont Alto in their final conference match-up of the season. The game begins at 2pm on Saturday, October 21st. Stay up to date on all the action at beaverathletics.com!
