Lady Lions shut out New Kensington, 3-0

NEW KENSINGTON, Pa.— In the first of two final conference road games for the regular season, the Penn State Beaver women's volleyball team shut out Penn State New Kensington, 3-0.
The Lady Lions outpaced New Kensington in the first set with a double-digit win, 25-13. But the teams slugged it out in the long, second set, with Beaver pulling away with a 31-29 victory. The third set was a close contest as well, but the Lady Lions ultimately topped New Kensington by 7 (25-18) to take a 3-0 win for the day.
Senior Amanda Mike (Hopewell) led the offense with seven kills and nine digs, followed by sophomore Ramiya White (Westland/Wayne Memorial), who scored six kills and one block. Sophomore Emily Keener (Utica) led the team in aces with five for the day.
On defense, sophomore Heaven Bowman (Houston/Dulles), finished with 21 digs, followed by freshman Ashley Rabang (El Dorado Hills /Oak Ridge), who contributed 16. Sophomore Kelsie Hallum (Hopewell) finished with 19 assists.
After defeating New Kensington, Beaver improves to a 17-8 overall record for the regular season and holds down second place with an 8-3 record in the PSUAC conference standings.
The PSUAC-West No. 2 Lady Lions will travel to face off against the PSUAC-West No. 1 Penn State Fayette this Tuesday, Oct. 22, for their final game of the regular season. The game is slated for 7:30 p.m.
