Beaver Takes Loss at Fayette
Lemont Furnace, PA -- Beaver struggles with Fayette on the road.
After taking down the reigning conference champions earlier this season at home, Beaver looked to sweep them for the first time since Bertges took over the program six years ago.
The Lady Lions won the first set, 25-21, looking to be in control of the tempo of the match. But then in the second set they found themselves down early, 0-7, to start the game. They were able to battle back to get even late in the set, but then gave up another five point run to the Roaring Lions that they could not overcome as they fell 15-25. The third set started much the same way, Beaver giving up an early run, trailing 0-5 to start. On the aggressive serving of Brooke Tomasko, they were able to take a one point advantage, 6-5, but fell behind again and were not able to get the game even until 17-17. With the late push the Lady Lions looked to be back on track but their struggles passing led to a 20-25 loss. In the fourth and what would be the final set, Beaver played from begind the entire set, never finding their rhythm from the first set and fell by a final score of 18-25.
The offense was led by Tomasko with 10 kills. Defensively it was Imani Hargrove blocking at the net with 3 solo blocks and Jocelyn Krotec leading the way in digs with 9 on the night.
The Lady Lions are now 11-4 in the PSUAC and have their final home game (senior night) of the season on October 24th when they host Dubois at 7pm.
