Beaver Cruises Past Lehigh Valley
Monaca, PA -- Beaver defeats Lehigh Valley to move up 6-2 in the PSUAC.
Penn State Beaver's Lady Lions sweeped Penn State Lehigh Valley in their first of two conference matches on Saturday.
In the first set, Beaver crushed Lehigh Valley 25-8, with a collective 8 kills and 18 takeaways. The team played an aggressive defense, while freshman Imani Hargrove had 3 kills and 3 takeaways in the set.
In set two, Lehigh Valley slowly began to show signs of life, but they were not able to overcome Beaver's offense. Beaver would go on to win the set 25-15, with sophomore Amanda Mike completing 3 kills and 3 takeaways.
In the third set, Lehigh Valley showed an intense offense, leading Beaver to step up their game. Despite Lehigh Valley's strong attempt, Beaver won the set 25-22, winning the game 3-0.
The team had a total of 28 kills and 65 takeaways. Sophomore Amanda Mike led the pack with 10 of those kills and 18 takeaways, while senior Jenna Petrucci had 6 kills and 17 takeaways in the game.
Beaver went on to defeat Penn State Hazelton 3-0 later in the day. The team will next face off on the road Wednesday against Penn State Du Bois.
