Lady Lions Defeat Fayette in Massive Comeback
Monaca, PA -- Beaver defeats Fayette in five sets to advance 5-2 in the PSUAC.
The Penn State Beaver Lady Lions came back in a five set matchup against Penn State Fayette. The first set started with an intense back-and-forth between both teams. Despite aggresive serves from Beaver, the team could not overcome Fayette's defense, falling 22-25 in the first set.
The second set showed less than stellar results from Beaver, as the team struggled to run for the ball. Beaver lost the second set 20-25.
In the third set, however, Beaver came back with a bang. Finding their tempo as a team, Beaver's offense worked to build a total of 12 kills. The team defeated Fayette with a whopping 25-19.
The fourth set continued Beaver's comeback, with 7 combined kills and a 25-22 win, pushing a fifth set against a tiring Fayette defense.
The fifth set brought Beaver to a win against Fayette 16-14, ending the game with a 3-2 win for Beaver.
Senior Jenna Petrucci led the pack with 13 kills and 43 total attempts, while senior Roxy Kie had 27 assists. The team will host a back to back QUAD match on Saturday, facing off against Lehigh Valley and Hazelton.
